Elevator is a local learning marketplace. We collect and use information to help learners discover sessions, help teachers manage bookings, process payments, prevent misuse, and keep the platform reliable.
1. Who we are
Elevator connects learners, parents or guardians, and teachers for in-person educational and skill-based sessions. This Privacy Policy explains how Elevator collects, uses, shares, and protects personal information when you use the Elevator mobile app, website, and related services.
2. Information we collect
Account information
- Name, email address, login details, and account settings.
- Profile photo and profile information you choose to provide.
- Teacher profile details, including biography, lesson information, images, and payout setup status.
Session, booking, and marketplace information
- Sessions created by teachers, including title, description, category, price, date, time, capacity, and location information.
- Bookings, cancellations, refunds, disputes, no-show reports, reviews, and support requests.
- Messages or notes submitted through booking, private session request, support, or dispute flows.
Location information
Elevator uses location features to help learners discover nearby sessions and to help teachers set session locations. Approximate public location information may be shown before booking. Exact address and arrival instructions are only intended to be shared with learners after a booking is confirmed.
Payment and payout information
Payments, refunds, and teacher payouts are processed by Stripe. Elevator does not store full card details. Stripe may collect and process payment details, identity verification information, bank details, and tax or compliance information where required for payments and teacher payouts.
Device and technical information
- Device type, app version, operating system, IP address, logs, diagnostics, and crash information.
- Push notification tokens if you enable push notifications.
- Basic usage information to operate, secure, and improve the service.
3. How we use information
- Create, manage, and secure user accounts.
- Show sessions, teacher profiles, bookings, and relevant marketplace content.
- Process bookings, payments, refunds, disputes, and teacher payouts.
- Send service-related emails, push notifications, booking confirmations, cancellation notices, refund updates, security messages, and support responses.
- Moderate sessions, categories, images, reviews, and other content.
- Detect fraud, enforce policies, prevent off-platform abuse, and protect users.
- Comply with legal, tax, accounting, regulatory, and payment obligations.
- Improve performance, reliability, safety, and user experience.
4. Legal bases for processing
Where GDPR applies, we process personal information where necessary to provide the service, perform a contract with you, comply with legal obligations, protect legitimate interests such as fraud prevention and platform safety, or where you have given consent.
5. How we share information
We only share information where needed to operate Elevator, provide services, comply with law, or protect users. This may include sharing information with Stripe, Mapbox, cloud hosting, storage, email, analytics, notification providers, teachers and learners where necessary for bookings, and legal or regulatory parties where required.
6. Public and semi-public information
Teacher profiles, session listings, approved categories, public reviews, and some uploaded images may be visible to other users. Please do not upload content you do not have permission to share.
7. Emails and push notifications
We may send transactional emails and notifications about account security, bookings, payments, refunds, cancellations, session reminders, teacher onboarding, disputes, and support. You can control device-level push notification permissions in your phone settings.
8. Children's privacy
Elevator may facilitate lessons that children attend, but Elevator accounts are intended to be created and managed by adults, including parents, guardians, teachers, and adult learners. Elevator is not intended for direct unsupervised use by children under 13.
9. Data retention and deletion
We keep personal information for as long as needed to provide the service, comply with law, process payments and payouts, resolve disputes, prevent fraud, maintain security, and keep accounting or business records. You can request deletion of your account in the app or by contacting support.
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live, including under GDPR, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or receive a copy of your personal information. To make a request, contact [email protected].
11. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal information, including secure connections, access controls, and trusted payment providers. No service can guarantee absolute security.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as Elevator changes. The updated version will show a new “Last updated” date.
